Kevin McCann, a professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Guelph, had completed a degree in mathematics at Dartmouth College, when he returned to school to pursue an interest in applying math to ecology. He obtained his MSc and PhD at the University of Guelph, and worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of California. From there, he took a faculty position at McGill University. In 2003, McCann returned to Guelph where his research focuses on the structure and function of food webs. McCann’s work looks at the impact of land management on the sustainability and resilience of adjacent ecosystems including aquatic ecosystems and their fisheries.
