E’layna Baker
Communications Coordinator
E’layna Baker is the Communications Coordinator at Arrell Food Institute. In her role she works closely with the Communications Manager to support AFI in elevating public awareness and engagement on a range of complex topics within Canadian and global food systems.
E’layna holds an honours B.A Degree in Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics, and a certificate in Business from the University of Guelph. Prior to joining the AFI team, E’layna worked on several communications projects with Synthesis Agri-Food Network. She also worked for the Ontario Agricultural College Dean’s Office as the Communications Intern where she was a contributing author for several volumes of the LIBRANNI Magazine, an annual publication for OAC alumni. She later took on a role at Bioenterprise Canada, a Guelph-based nationally focused food and agri-tech accelerator where she played a key role in advancing various strategic marketing initiatives.
With a passion for storytelling and youth education, E’layna is also the author of a children’s e-book, Agriculture Izz Everywhere, which presents a fun and engaging way for pre-schoolers to explore the vast range of careers in the agri-food industry.
Outside of AFI, you may find her daydreaming about her favourite beaches in her home country, The Bahamas, or looking for the next interesting Japanese anime series to binge watch.
