Alicia Bohren
Arrell Scholar, Department of Animal Biosciences
Alicia’s passion for livestock began with her involvement in 4-H during her youth, where she showed everything from chickens to goats to cattle. This interest evolved into an enthusiasm for research after learning about her great-grandfather’s work in poultry genetics. While at Kansas State University, she became involved with pregnancy diagnostics at the Dairy Teaching and Research Center, which helped her discover her passion for dairy cattle.
Her volunteer work with the on-campus food bank raised her awareness of food insecurity, not only in Kansas but globally, particularly concerning perishable dairy products. These experiences have led Alicia to become passionate about dairy reproductive physiology and to recognize the potential impact of new research on improving food insecurity. Alicia hopes that her research will not only enhance the livelihood of dairy farmers but also benefit consumers.
Alicia is passionate about science-based learning, and continual innovation fuels her curiosity both in school and in life. In the future, she aims to conduct research at the forefront of scientific innovation and discovery while working to educate and inspire the next generation of industry professionals.
