Black Creek Community Farm
The Black Creek Community Farm was founded in 2012 and operates as an urban farm social enterprise focused on improving food security, reducing social isolation, and improving employment and education outcomes. Key programming partners include: the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority; FoodShare, a core project partner supporting educational initiatives; the Jane-Finch Community and Family Centre; and the Toronto Beekeepers Cooperative, a supporter of beekeeping on site and education around pollinator habitat. The Black Creek Community Farm’s mission is to serve and enrich the community through a thriving farm, healthy food, hands-on training and learning experiences, and to inspire the next generation by providing leadership in food justice while supporting diverse natural and social ecosystems. Importantly, the farm serves the Jane and Finch community in Toronto, one of Toronto’s most diverse communities and recognized as the most disadvantaged.
