Elizabeth Shantz
Program Manager
Elizabeth Shantz is a Program Manager at the Arrell Food Institute and works on the Sustainable Food Systems for Canada initiative, Food from Thought, and the Climate Adaptation, Resilience and Empowerment training program. Her focus is on sharing knowledge between academia, government, and industry and creating, evaluating, and amplifying impact across food systems.
She has spent over a decade in the knowledge mobilization field – first at the Canadian Water Network and then at the Research Innovation Office at the University of Guelph – developing programs, managing funding, and creating products to amplify and assess the impact of research. She co-leads the Agricultural Genomics Action Centre, a Genome-Canada funded initiative to mobilize knowledge on climate-smart agriculture and genomics.
Elizabeth received a BAH in English and Psychology from the University of Guelph and a MASc in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Waterloo. She sits on the organizing committee for the Wellington Waterloo Knowledge Mobilization Community of Practice and is an active member of Research Impact Canada.
When not at work, Elizabeth can be found knitting, gardening, or at the barn.
