Gerarda Darlington
Interim Dean, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences
Dr. Gerarda Darlington, PhD, became the interim dean of CEPS in July 2020. She is a statistics professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and has previously held the position of associate dean (academic) for CEPS.
Darlington studied statistics for her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Guelph and completed her doctoral studies at the University of Waterloo. She was a senior biostatistician at Cancer Care Ontario in Toronto for 10 years prior to joining U of G as a faculty member in 2000.
Darlington’s research focuses on the development of statistical methods for the design and analysis of studies involving time-to-event and clustered outcomes. Her statistics research is motivated by participation in collaborative work such as the Guelph Family Health Study.
Darlington is passionate about improving and enhancing academic experiences for students. She played an integral role in creating U of G’s Library Science Commons and the Physical Sciences and Engineering Education Research Centre. She has received several prestigious awards for her accomplishments in mentorship and leadership.
