Manju Misra
Professor, School of Engineering and Department of Plant Agriculture
Dr. Misra is a professor in the School of Engineering and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph (U of G). As well, she was appointed as the Research Program Director for the Bioeconomy – Industrial Uses Program for the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance between the U of G and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA). She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK).
Dr. Misra’s current research is on sustainable biobased materials which focuses on polymer-based biocomposites and nanobiocomposites utilizing agricultural, forestry, and food-waste resources. The aim of her research is to develop biobased and eco-friendly alternatives to the existing petroleum-based products. Recently, Dr. Misra has been exploring the valorization of food waste to develop biobased materials for various applications (i.e. automotive, packaging, consumer goods). Her research has been working towards sustainable packaging materials with high barrier properties and for safe food contact.
