Mariam Abu-El-Magd is an MSc student in the department of Food Agriculture Resource Economics at the University of Guelph. Her research focuses on how to encourage consumers to choose healthier food options by using loyalty points programs. This research can have useful implications that help the food industry better understand how consumers make certain choices, how much they value loyalty points, and their willingness to pay for a healthier option. Mariam worked with an Agri-food startup in Egypt which got her interested in knowing more about food and agricultural economics.
