Naomi is a 2023 Net-Zero Food Systems Challenge Participant
Naomi Mengistu-Zelleke is a self-described food enthusiast who wants to learn more about where our food comes from. Naomi completed her BSc in Environmental Sciences at the University of British Columbia. During this time, she worked in various positions from small municipal governments to federal level research living in places such as the Canadian Rockies and Albertan Prairies. Naomi is entering her second year as a Soil Science MSc student at the University of Manitoba where she is characterizing nitrogen dynamics under various beneficial management practices in Atlantic soils. After finishing her program, Naomi hopes to continue working towards a sustainable future in agriculture as a soil scientist.
