Nicole is a 2023 Net-Zero Food Systems Challenge Participant
Nicole Cupolo is a master’s student at the University of Guelph studying Rural Planning and Development. Nicole received her undergraduate degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management from Carleton University, where she developed an interest in agri-food systems, food literacy, and food waste. Her research contributions focus on consumers’ use of the Canada Food Guide related to meat and plant-based protein, best management practices in the Ontario potato sector, and gender-based violence in the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Nicole is a program coordinator for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, where she helps design and deliver challenges such as the Food Waste Reduction Challenge: an outcomes-based funding model. Nicole also brings first-hand experience in regenerative farming and food market sales. Trained in gender and intersectionality, Nicole works towards applying these lenses to many of her projects to help create an equitable, diverse and just agri-food system.
