Emma Pothion

Emma Pothion will be completing her master’s in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development under the supervision of Dr. Sara Epp. Pothion previously completed her B.A. in Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph. Her research focuses on how heritage conservation can contribute to sustainable planning by promoting the adaptive reuse of cultural/historic landscapes and buildings/built structures. She cares deeply about helping communities understand that valuing their heritage is tied to preservation; consciously adapting our environments to build stronger, more climate-resilient futures.

After finishing the MSc program, she hopes to become a leader in heritage conservation planning. She wants to work closely with municipalities and policymakers to ensure heritage conservation is thoughtfully integrated in building stronger, more resilient and environmentally responsible communities.
