Ifunanya is a 2023 Net-Zero Food Systems Challenge Participant
Ifunanya Orisekeh is a PhD candidate of Agricultural Sciences at Dalhousie University, where she focuses on the sustainability of agri-food supply chains. She holds an MSc in Sustainable International Agriculture from Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in Germany, where she conducted research on poverty eradication for smallholder farmers in Cambodia. She also has a BSc in Agricultural Extension from the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
Ifunanya has conducted various research experiments and analyzed data on several topics including sustainability practices, fairtrade, poverty alleviation, innovative risk coping mechanisms, micro finance, supply chain management, and ICT for agriculture. She also worked as a research consultant and extension support specialist in Nigeria where she analyzed the impact potential, risks, and uncertainties of different pathways towards a living income for Nigerian cocoa farmers. She is a member of the National Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS) in Nigeria, and the Supply Chain Management Association of Nova Scotia (SCMA-NS) in Canada.
